Senior Systems Engineer

This company delivers products and services into the naval and military defence and transport markets alongside performing specialist research and providing services, including training and product support.

In the maritime domain, this company’s engineering capabilities cover a wide range of maritime mission systems requirements, including communications, torpedo and decoy launching systems, sonar systems, infrastructure and training.

Using its systems engineering skills, combined with in-depth knowledge and understanding of dismounted soldier operations, this company provides independent advice and research into future dismounted soldier systems and applications.

They have received a large government contract with the Canadian Government and will be expanding operations in their Canadian office.

The Role and the team:

As a Senior Systems Engineer you will take responsibility for the support of our products in the Canadian market. You will be required to progress elements of the design, development, design proving, test, commissioning and in-service support of the equipment as part of a multi-disciplined team in liaison with Systems Engineers in the UK. This work may involve sensitive information so the applicant must be able to obtain security clearance.

You will utilise state-of-the-art methods, technology and tools to explore all aspects of the product lifecycle, engineering analysis, requirements analysis, design, implementation, test, build and product support. There is a requirement to interface with customers (internal and external) on many factors within the design and liaise closely with Engineers from all disciplines, Systems, Software, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.

The role will see the job holder joining a successful engineering company, who have ambitious plans to develop new and technologically challenging markets across the world.

Responsibilities

• Provision of documentation, system information, handbooks, reliability data in support of customer requirements.
• Managing Requirements throughout the Engineering Lifecycle
• Proving Technical inputs to bidding activities within the Canada region and beyond
• Integration and production qualification activities
• Work Package generation and execution
• The jobholder will report to the Canadian General Manager


The jobholder will be expected to:

• Carry out functional and non-functional system analyses.
• Lead and coordinate system integration verification and validation activities and manage issue resolution.
• Coordinate directly with teams in the UK and with external customers.
• Prepare documentation and presentation material to effectively communicate technical subject matter to audiences at working and senior management level.
• Plan and track progress of engineering assignments within agreed schedules, to quality standards and budget in accordance with project and company processes.
• Assist in the evaluation of new technology and methods.
• Provide technical expertise and support to the Business Development function including the generation of technical proposals and bids.
• Understand and implement the company environmental, health & safety policy by accepting individual responsibility and responsibility for those personnel under their authority, including others who may be affected by the company’s activities.
• Ensure personnel are aware of their responsibility towards H&S and are equipped accordingly.
• Always set a strong personal example regarding all health and safety matters.
